Treating Breast Cancer Side Effects

for Sandra

This post is in memory of my sister who just lost her struggle with breast cancer in her middle forties.

These are some of the techniques we used to help her cope with breast cancer side effects.

One of the difficult parts of having breast cancer is dealing with the side effects, which can be very debilitating. As an alternative breast cancer treatment, Bodywork is a series of physical oriented techniques which assist a cancer patient in coping with side effects.

These techniques involve hands-on manipulation of joints and soft tissue, realignment of the body, and correcting posture imbalances. The focus of these manipulations are on gentle, deliberate movement, and breathing strategies.

For a patient to deal with their breast cancer’s side effects, especially on days were it is worse than other days, they need to have the Bodywork therapy on a regular basis. The reason is to teach the patient self coping strategies when no one is present during the bad times.

The major focus of this alternative breast cancer treatment is on:

  • Relief of pain
  • Stress reduction
  • Soothing muscles
  • Stimulation of blood flow
  • Lymphatic circulation
  • Relaxation
  • Breathing

These techniques helped her in the final days, hopefully they can help someone you know.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your sister.
It is my hope and prayer that more people will learn about treatments that are effective without creating the side effects that so many patients are now having to deal with. Organizations such as http://www.soliveinc.org are educating patients as to what treatments can make a difference.
